Direct Federal Credit Union (www.direct.com) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2024 Don Kelliher DEI Scholarship and 2024 David Johnson Leadership Scholarship. The two outstanding students have been selected from a highly competitive pool of applicants.
Beth MacCune from Scituate High School has been selected for the Don Kelliher DEI Scholarship. This scholarship was created to honor Direct Federal Credit Union’s former Board Vice-Chairman, Chairman, and now Chairman Emeritus, Don Kelliher. The scholarship recognizes a student who has led or supported an effort to make their school and/or community inclusive. During Mr. Kelliher’s time as Chairman, he was instrumental in founding the Diversity Equity and Inclusion Team at the Credit Union. Ms. MacCune will be attending Colorado State University and is enrolled in the Biochemistry program.
Connor Crane from Wilmington High School has been selected for the David Johnson Leadership Scholarship. This scholarship honors Direct Federal Credit Union’s former Board Vice-Chairman, Chairman, and now Chairman Emeritus, David Johnson, and his 35 years of service. The scholarship recognizes and rewards a student who has demonstrated one of Mr. Johnson’s strongest qualities, leadership. Conner will be attending the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and is enrolled in the Isenberg School of Management as an Accounting Major.
Ms. MacCune and Mr. Crane will each receive a $12,000 scholarship and have been offered paid internships at the Credit Union for each year they are enrolled in college.
